As part of the Edward the Confessor Millenium Celebrations throughout 2005, Channel 4's Time Team visited Islip in a bid to discover the truth about his birth here.
There was great excitement when they appeared to have discovered the foundations of The Confessor's Chapel but these unfortunately turned out to be a C17th cesspit!
