Islip WI
APPEAL TO LADIES OF ISLIP
Islip W.I. was founded in 1919 and has been well supported since then. It began in order to bring improvements to the rather hard lives of many rural women, teaching them how to prepare more nutritious food with their often limited means for their husbands and children. It soon developed, however, into a social club which included women of every class and interest. Many cultural and artistic tastes were catered for then and this tradition goes on.We have recently found, however, that our numbers are declining and so appeal to any lady - from 18 to 80 plus - to come along and join us.
Not only does membership give entrance to our meetings, but a local glossy magazine each month, full of information and events and outings of all kinds. National Office also sends each member a magazine detailing events all over the U.K. and information about campaigns we organise to improve rural
life ( ie Post Offices, better prices for farmers, and green issues in particular) We are a friendly bunch so please come along and join us
Please note. We don't sing Jerusalem, don't often make jam and, so far, have not undressed for a Calendar!
