The Arncotts

A picture for Arncott

Notice: Cllr Simon Grater resigned from the Parish Council on 6th Oct. The Parish council would like to acknowledge the contribution Simon has made to the Village over the past 16 years as a serving Councillor and Vice Chairman. There is now a vacancy on the Parish Council. If you would like to apply to become a Parish Councillor please apply, by 4th Nov 08, either by: email: arncottpc@googlemail.com or by letter to the Chairman, Cllr Bob Leat at 10 Constables Croft, Upper Arncott.

The civil parish of Arncott is made up of the two villages of Upper and Lower Arncott (Arncot - see History), as mentioned in the Domesday Book, although latterly known as Arncott. The picture (above) is of the Village Windmill which sadly no longer exists. The Village has a Village Hall (available for functions)with a new childrens playpark (provided by extensive fundraising over the past couple of years), Football team, Shop, a Pub (The Plough) and a Hotel (The Tally Ho).

The Village has had a close association with the MOD and the Army since the Second World War when Land was requisitioned for a Storage Distribution Site (see History page) which is still in use.
